In a world increasingly shaped by rapid transformation and global challenges such as climate change, threats to democracy, and barriers to education, we believe progress must be purpose-driven and aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted in 2015. We see IP not just as a legal framework, but as a powerful lever for driving meaningful, long-term impact.
Traditionally, the IP system is perceived as adversarial—designed around exclusivity, ownership, and competition. Built to grant monopolies, it naturally positions rights holders and third parties in opposition, with enforcement often reliant on litigation. This model, while effective in many ways, can limit broader societal benefit.
