Leveraging intellectual property

FOR SOCIETAL IMPACT

“IP for Impact” supports clients seeking to create positive societal change

By using intellectual property (IP) rights as a catalytic tool

In a world increasingly shaped by rapid transformation and global challenges such as climate change, threats to democracy, and barriers to education, we believe progress must be purpose-driven and aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted in 2015. We see IP not just as a legal framework, but as a powerful lever for driving meaningful, long-term impact.

Traditionally, the IP system is perceived as adversarial—designed around exclusivity, ownership, and competition. Built to grant monopolies, it naturally positions rights holders and third parties in opposition, with enforcement often reliant on litigation. This model, while effective in many ways, can limit broader societal benefit.

Leveraging know-how and technology

to create value that matters with you and for your mission

IP for Impact was created by the Impact Licensing Initiative.

IP for Impact operates as a boutique consultancy at the intersection of technology, intellectual property, and global good. We aim to reshape the perception of IP—expanding it from a tool for value creation to a mechanism for collaboration, innovation, and inclusive progress. Our mission is to unlock the hidden potential of IP rights to advance both economic opportunity and social value.

TO ACHIEVE THIS, WE HAVE BROUGHT TOGETHER A DIVERSE AND EXPERIENCED TEAM WITH BACKGROUNDS IN SYSTEMIC DESIGN, LAW, TECHNOLOGY, POLICY, INNOVATION, AND IMPACT – COMMITTED TO REIMAGINING HOW IP CAN SERVE SOCIETY.
